Pharmacy Technician Diploma
(CCAPP Accredited)
The Pharmacy Technician diploma program at National Academy’s Mississauga campus has been awarded the status of Qualifying Accreditation by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP). This means that our graduates (and only graduates from other CCAPP programs) are eligible to become registered Pharmacy Technicians in Ontario.

We also offer the Pharmacy Assistant program which shorter in length.

The Pharmacy Technician program is designed to prepare graduates for employment in either retail, industrial or institutional pharmacy settings. The program is a College level program approved by The Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities. Through comprehensive learning objectives and practical hands-on training, graduates of this program will be technically qualified to provide superior pharmacy technician performance.

Students in the Pharmacy Technician Diploma program will combine theoretical classroom learning with practical hands-on training, ensuring that they are both well versed in all aspects of the pharmaceutical industry and equipped with the confidence needed to step into the workplace upon graduation.

The Pharmacy Technician Diploma Course Concentration:

The comprehensive Pharmacy Technician Diploma program prepares students for a wide range of professional careers in all pharmacy settings. The modules of study in the program include:
  • Orientation to Pharmacy (25 hours)
  • Dosage Forms (50 hours)
  • Anatomy and Physiology (75 hours)
  • Jurisprudence – Pharmacy Law (75 hours)
  • Pharmacy Calculations (150 hours)
  • Pharmacology (150 hours)
  • Retail Pharmacy (75 hours)
  • Hospital Pharmacy (50 hours)
  • Aseptic Technique (50 hours)
  • KROLL Computer System (75 hours)
  • Resume / Job Search (25 hours)

The Pharmacy Technician Diploma program is 40 weeks long and includes an 8-week job placement (4 weeks hospital setting / 4 weeks retail setting). Students will spend 25 hours in the classroom per week.

Funding Options

The Pharmacy Technician program is eligible for up to five different funding options, including OSAP (to those who qualify), EI, Second Career, Payment Plans and even loans facilitated by us.
