Health Programs » Intra Oral Dental Assistant Diploma (Level 1 & 2), Mississauga
Intra Oral Dental Assistants (Level 1 & 2) assist dentists during the examination and treatment of patients and perform both clinical and some administrative functions. Common job titles include Dental Assistant (Level 1 & 2), Intra-Oral Dental Assistant and Preventative Dental Assistant (PDA). Intra-Oral Dental Assistants (Level 1 & 2) are typically employed in dental offices, dental clinics, health units, hospitals and educational institutions. A 35-40 hour work week is common but some part-time, evening and Saturday work exists as dental offices extend business hours to accommodate patients' schedules.
Graduates of the Intra-Oral Dental Assistant (Level 1 & 2) program must write and successfully pass the NDAEB Level 2 certification examination in order to use their Level 2 skills in a dental office in the Province of Ontario. Upon passing the NDAEB Level 2 examination graduates may apply to the Ontario Dental Nurses and Assistants' Association (ODN&AA) for CDA Level 2 Certification.
